Price methodology

How we rank offers and what each price label means. All prices are in GBP (£).

Delivered-total ranking

Offers are ranked by delivered total: item price plus mandatory standard delivery for a normal customer without any paid membership. Collection-only prices and conditional membership prices (for example prices requiring a paid subscription) are labelled as alternatives and never win the default ranking.

Separate comparison universes

One comparable variant is one price universe. Only like-for-like offers compete: same product, format (physical or digital), edition and region. Digital offers never change a physical ranking, and switching variant on a product page switches the entire price universe including history and alerts.

Stale and out-of-stock exclusion

An offer only ranks while its price observation is fresh and the item is in stock. Out-of-stock offers remain visible for transparency but are segregated from the active ranking. Stale observations that have not been re-confirmed are excluded from the cheapest calculation and labelled accordingly.

RRP vs Was

RRP means the manufacturer's recommended retail price. Was is only used for an actual previously observed selling price in our recorded price history, never as a marketing anchor. Where neither exists, no savings claim is shown.

Historical facts, no recommendations

History panels report recorded facts: the lowest delivered price we have observed, recent price changes, and comparable offer counts. DockedDeals never predicts future prices and never issues buy, wait or verdict recommendations.
